Where: St Peter’s Methodist Church Hall, Canterbury
When: Saturday 22nd October

Who: Others appearing at the event are Bright Shadow, Canterbury Christ Church, Jen Holland (photographer), Liz Jennings (writing groups) and The Useless Pluckers ukulele band. Members of the Forget Me Nots and carers, volunteers and NHS staff associated with the group will be present to greet and chat with attendees. Members of other NHS groups are also involved with readings – SUNshiners and Ashford Phoenix.

What: Activities will be available at the various stalls – from poetry to crafting to learning how to frame better photos on your mobile phone. We’ll have a central information stall and bookshop, poetry readings and a book launch as part of the event, as well as musical performances and a singing for wellbeing workshop. Tea, coffee and cake / biscuits are provided free of charge thanks to The Beardy Baker and M&S Canterbury.

Why: While the event was born out of a desire to celebrate 10 years of the Forget Me Nots and DEEP, we see it as a market-style event to share what’s going on in East Kent and to enable people diagnosed with dementia during lockdown, who may be isolated, lonely and looking for opportunities, to connect and so begin to enjoy new, positive experiences and relationships.
