Local celebrations

The films and recordings you will find here are a snap shot of 17 events which took place across the UK. The days were designed and delivered by members of the DEEP network.

Scotland celebration Edinburgh – January 2022

In light of organisational changes in Scotland we held a meeting in the very early days of coming out of COVID lockdown. The issues discussed reflected the desire for unity and amplification of voices of people with dementia and organisations in Scotland.

Zoomettes celebration Woodbrooke – April 2022

The Zoomettes celebration finally brought together women from a virtual peer support group- some of whom had never met in person before. There was art, conversations, laughter and tears in bucket loads.

London celebration at Olympic Park – 7th June 2022

An extraordinary and unique experience on wheels bringing together DEEPers from across the UK. So much fun, laughter and friendship.

STAND celebration Scotland – 18th June 2022

STAND shares the journey of their group with stories and their intergenerational music. They also used the opportunity to share their ideas to contribute to the Fife Dementia Strategy.

Alumni celebration – June 2022

James, Agnes, Nancy and Martin are a small but perfectly formed group who reflect on their activism, friendship, support and achievements.

Wales 'Loud and Proud About Dementia' celebration event – June 2022

In a quiet and beautiful location in Snowdonia magic happened. Groups from across Wales and some gate crashers from Nothern Ireland, Scotland and England came together to powerfully shout out and live the values of DEEP.

MindCare YODA celebration – July 2022

YODA celebrates shining a light on young onset dementia. Through this really powerful film they reflect the value of the comfort and friendliness of their group.

Hampshire celebration – July 2022

'Kindness instead of reproach' - Music, dance, poetry, tea and cake from a community fuelled group with warmth and kindness.

Leamington Spa celebration – July 2022

The Buddies talk about the birth of their group and celebrated with tea and cake with a 40's theme. The reason they chose a 40s theme?... they face adversity together, like they did in the 40's.

De Cafe/Dementia Voices Ceartas Advocacy – September 2022

Tales of sitting in the sun and watching the bowls to talking about toilets. A gallery of creativity and life stories with a real Scottish flavour.

Kent celebration – September 2022

The sun really shone on the Sunshiners in Folkestone at their 'Shining a light on dementia' event. We looked out at the English channel and we heard how the SUNshiners navigate these choppy waters together.

Bradford celebration – October 2022

Bradford groups came together to share their lived experiences and contributions to research. There was a lot of fun, poetry and creativity too including a new DEEP song!

North West celebration – October 2022

'Part of a unique family' - these groups show we still have skills and talents. Groups from across the North West and Carlile showcase their stories and activities.

Still Me celebration – October 2022

A wonderful exhibition of trees and poetry led by Still Me with contributions from DEEPers across the UK. Trees are a perfect analogy of the DEEP Network.

East Kent Forget Me Nots celebration 'Living Together with Dementia' – October 2022

This event was held as part of the Canterbury Festival. A creative fun afternoon with tea and cake.
